Summary
BookDepo (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal book-library app published by BookDepo Studio. The app stores your library entirely on your own device. We do not run any account system or server that receives your library, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data. The only network activity is looking up books you choose to add and fetching the interface font.
Information the app stores on your device
Everything you enter stays in a local database on your device. This includes:
- Book details you add (title, authors, publisher, category, ISBN, edition, page count, language, description).
- Cover images downloaded for a book, or photos you take or choose for a cover.
- Your shelves, wishlists, formats, tags, ratings, reviews and notes.
- Lending history (who you lent a book to and the relevant dates) and disposal records.
- App preferences such as your chosen language and theme.
This data never leaves your device except through actions you start yourself — for example, creating a backup file or an export and choosing where to share or save it.
Information sent when you look up a book
When you add a book by scanning or typing an ISBN, or by searching by title or author, the app sends that ISBN or those search terms to third-party book databases to retrieve book details and cover images:
- Open Library (operated by the Internet Archive).
- Google Books (operated by Google).
These sources may be used together to complete missing details, such as a cover the first source did not have. We may change or add providers over time; if we do, we will update this policy. Only the ISBN or search text you enter is sent, together with a standard app identifier in the request (so those services can apply fair-use limits). Your library, your notes and your other books are never sent.
As with any internet request, contacting these services necessarily reveals your device’s IP address to the provider. That processing is governed by their own privacy policies — please refer to Open Library / the Internet Archive and to Google for details. We do not receive or store that information.
Interface font
The app’s interface font (Jura) is fetched from Google Fonts the first time it is needed and then cached on your device. That request contains no personal data, but — like any request — it reveals your device’s IP address to Google, under Google’s privacy policy.
International data transfers
Open Library, Google Books and Google Fonts are operated from outside Serbia and the EU (primarily the United States). When the app contacts them, the request (the search text or ISBN, plus your IP address) is processed abroad under those providers’ own safeguards. The app makes these requests only when you add a book or when the font is first loaded.
Permissions the app requests
- Camera — used only to scan a book’s ISBN barcode and, if you choose, to photograph a cover. The camera is never used in the background, and images are stored locally.
- Photos / media (image selection) — used only when you choose an existing picture as a cover. The app accesses the specific image you select, not your whole gallery.
- Internet — used only for the book lookups and font described above.
Analytics, ads and tracking
The app contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not build a profile of you and we do not collect usage statistics.
Backups and exports
You can create a full JSON backup and CSV or HTML reports. These files are generated on your device, and you decide where they go — saved locally or shared through another app you pick. Once you share a file, its handling is governed by the destination you chose. Because your data lives only on your device, keeping your own backups is your responsibility (see our Terms of Service).
Children
BookDepo is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. You should meet the minimum age required by your app store and by the law of your country to use it. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, since it does not send personal information to a server at all.
Your rights and your control over your data
Because your data lives on your device and we hold none of it on a server, you are in direct control of it: you can view, edit, or delete any entry in the app, export it, and remove all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in your device settings. This effectively covers the core data-protection rights (such as access, correction, deletion and portability) for the data BookDepo keeps. Where privacy law gives you additional rights, or if you have any question, you can contact us using the details below. See Data & Deletion for step-by-step instructions.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s behaviour changes, we will update this policy and revise the “last updated” date above.
